BACKUP & DISASTER RECOVERY / SOUTH FLORIDA

A backup is a copy.
Recovery is a plan.

What would it take to get your business working again?

Baral IT connects protected information, recovery priorities, and the practical checks needed to return to work. Explore how the plan changes when the interruption changes.

THE QUESTION AFTER “IS IT BACKED UP?”

Can your people
use it again?

A successful backup job answers one question. A working business asks several more.

Which function comes back first?Where will the workload run?Are the files, applications, and access usable?Who confirms the business can resume work?

PROTECTED WORKLOADS / DEFINED COVERAGE

Know what is protected.
Know what happens next.

We start with the information and systems your business depends on, then define coverage, retention, responsibility, and recovery expectations.

01

Workstations & business files

Define the files and supported workloads that need protection, then agree how that information gets back onto usable equipment.

02

Servers & virtual workloads

Review the applications, data, access, and infrastructure each protected workload needs to operate after restoration.

03

Microsoft 365 information

Scope supported email, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams protection around the accounts and information your business relies on.

04

Storage & shared information

Identify critical file shares and data stores. Confirm supported backup paths instead of assuming everything on a NAS or shared drive is covered.

05

Retention & copy design

Agree how long copies are retained, where they are stored, and how backup access is protected. Consider accidental changes and wider disruptions.

06

Monitoring & restore testing

Review backup status, follow up on exceptions, and test agreed recovery tasks. Record what worked, what was missing, and what needs attention.

Coverage is agreed explicitly. Supported workloads, backup frequency, storage, retention, testing, and disaster recovery capabilities depend on your configuration and service plan.

BUSINESS CONTINUITY / TWO DIFFERENT QUESTIONS

The time you can wait.
The work you can lose.

Recovery Time Objective (RTO) is the target time to restore a business function. Recovery Point Objective (RPO) is the target amount of recent data loss the business can tolerate.

They answer different questions. A team may be able to wait for a replacement computer while still needing very recent client information.

Targets become useful when the equipment, copies, dependencies, and people needed to meet them are understood.

RECOVERY PRIORITIES / PLANNING INPUTSYOUR BUSINESS FIRST
How long could this function wait?
How much recent work could you recreate?

WHAT THE PLAN NEEDS TO CONSIDER

A recovery destination needs advance preparation.

Review prepared recovery options, dependencies, access, and rehearsal before relying on a short interruption target.

The gap between copies matters.

Review backup scheduling and retention against how much information the team could reasonably recreate.

Selected planning inputs: Brief interruption / Hours of changes

These selections express priorities, not a price, recommended backup schedule, or recovery guarantee. We confirm feasible RTO and RPO targets after reviewing the environment.

CLOUD AVAILABILITY ≠ BACKUP COVERAGE

In the cloud.
Still part of your plan.

We use Acronis as part of our backup services, including protection for supported Microsoft 365 information. The plan identifies the accounts, sites, and content to protect and how selected items can be recovered.

Email, shared information, and working documents deserve a deliberate retention and recovery approach alongside your device and server backups.

RECOVERY CONFIDENCE / EVIDENCE THAT MATTERS

Test the copy.
Then test the work.

Different checks answer different questions. We agree the appropriate tests, review the findings, and track what needs to change.

01

Backup integrity

Can the protected copy be read using the appropriate validation method?

02

Restored information

Can the selected file or item be recovered and checked?

03

System & application

Does the restored workload start and support the required application and access?

04

Business workflow

Can the people who use it complete the priority work?

A backup-integrity check, system boot, and business-workflow test are different levels of evidence. Test methods, frequency, and findings are documented for the agreed scope.

A considered return.

RANSOMWARE / RECOVERY WITH CARE

A copy is not
a clean bill of health.

An incident needs containment and investigation alongside recovery. Review candidate copies against the incident, use an appropriate destination, and validate before reconnecting to normal operations.

Recovery planning also considers wider disruptions: failed equipment, power loss, unavailable locations, and interrupted connectivity. A backup cannot repair an internet connection or make replacement equipment appear.

What backup and disaster recovery services does Baral IT provide?

We help South Florida businesses define backup coverage, retention, recovery priorities, and a practical response plan. This can include Acronis protection for supported endpoints and servers, Microsoft 365 data protection, backup monitoring, restore testing, and continuity planning. The protected workloads and responsibilities are agreed in your service scope.

What is the difference between a backup and disaster recovery?

A backup is a protected copy of information or a workload. Disaster recovery brings together the copy, a suitable destination, access, applications, dependencies, and the checks needed to restore a business function. Having a copy alone does not establish how or when the business can resume work.

Do you use Acronis for backups?

Yes. Baral IT uses Acronis as part of its backup and cyber protection services. Available backup and recovery options depend on the workload, licensing, storage configuration, retention, and the protection plan in place.

Can you protect Microsoft 365 email and files?

We can scope Acronis protection for supported Microsoft 365 workloads such as Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams. We identify the accounts, sites, and information to include and define retention and recovery responsibilities. Microsoft 365 service availability is different from your business’s backup coverage.

What do RPO and RTO mean?

Recovery Point Objective, or RPO, is the target amount of recent data loss the business can tolerate, expressed as a period of time. Recovery Time Objective, or RTO, is the target time to restore a business function after a disruption. They are planning objectives; feasibility and service commitments must be assessed for your environment.

How often should we test recovery?

Testing should reflect the importance of the workload, changes to the environment, and the agreed service plan. A file restore, a backup-integrity check, a system boot, and an application or business-workflow test answer different questions. We agree what will be tested and how findings will be documented.

Can backups help after ransomware?

Backups can support recovery when usable protected copies are available. Containment, incident investigation, recovery-point review, and validation remain essential. The newest copy is not automatically suitable, and an earlier copy is not automatically free from compromise.

Does cloud storage or a NAS automatically count as a backup?

It depends on the configuration. A working copy, synchronized folder, or storage location alone does not define independent recovery coverage. We review what is protected, where copies are stored, who can access them, retention, and the recovery process.

Can you guarantee no downtime or zero data loss?

No blanket promise is appropriate. Recovery depends on the incident, available copies, equipment, applications, connectivity, and validation. We discuss business priorities, achievable targets, and any agreed commitments before a disruption.

Where does backup fit with managed IT and cybersecurity?

Backup and recovery work alongside ongoing maintenance and security. Managed IT provides ownership and support, endpoint care helps maintain the protected equipment, and cybersecurity addresses exposure and incident response. The responsibilities should connect in one plan.
